Agriculture & Science Teacher


This is a fulltime contract position for 2017.

Ideally, the position would commence at the start of Term 2, or soon thereafter. There exists the possibility of ongoing employment for the right candidate.

Applicants must be eligible for Queensland College of Teachers registration and the successful candidate will need to be registered to teach in Queensland at the time of employment.

The successful applicant must have the capacity to teach Agriculture in Years 11 and 12 and Science in Years 7 – 10. The position would suit someone with experience in current and innovative agricultural practices and a passion for connecting with industry leaders to assist in the preparation of the next generation of professionals in the Agricultural industry.

The school offers both academic and vocational pathways in Science in modern laboratories and a range of SAS and certificate courses in Agriculture.

The school offers a range of sciences in the Senior Years including:

  • Authority Subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Authority Registered Subject: Agricultural Practices.
  • VET courses: Certificate III in Agriculture (external providers).

The school has a rural outlook on the outskirts of Charters Towers and has facilities for cattle production, equine and horticulture ventures.

There is a possibility that the successful candidate may be considered for a Head of House position in addition to a teaching role. Head of House is a position of added responsibility, which has both an administrative and pastoral care component.

All staff are expected to contribute to the wider life of the school through their participation in extra-curricular activities.

The school has a student population of approximately 425 students, with a large residential community of over 200 students, staff and their families who live on campus. A relocation allowance is available for staff that do not reside locally and some rental offset arrangements may be negotiated on a case by case basis.

Lunch is provided in the Dining Hall for staff at no cost.
