Strive for Excellence in Teaching and Learning
All Souls St Gabriels School pursues and promotes excellence in all aspects of learning and teaching and recognises the need to offer a broad, balanced and flexible curriculum for each individual in a school that is creative, innovative and well resourced.
Objectives
- To foster a culture of innovation and commitment to best practice within the teaching staff.
- To review the curriculum and teaching practices to develop a curriculum and resources appropriate to the families served by the school.
- To promote the importance of learning to our students and their families.
- To develop partnerships with other schools and communities.
- To encourage entrepreneurial partnerships between the school and others to develop resources and provide opportunities to students.
Strategies
- Engage an external person to conduct an audit on the curriculum and on the teaching and learning practices within the school. Use this as a way of encouraging innovation and good practice.
- Consider the idea of a Middle School which becomes a focus of good teaching and learning practice.
- Implement a Team Building program for All Souls Saint Gabriels students for leadership roles within the school and beyond
- Explore partnerships with other schools in other parts of the state so that opportunities are provided for our students.
- 2.5 Commit to encouraging greater collaboration between "competitor schools".
- Review and implement the Marketing Plan.
- Use technology to challenge the sense of isolation for students and teachers.
- Identify opportunities to give teachers from All Souls Saint Gabriels School experience in other school settings to change their level of innovation and reach.
- Provide professional development that is closely tied to the needs of individual staff members.
- Explore school-industry links with corporations and small businesses.
- Educate students to be responsible and independent, providing boundaries and clear guidelines in which to work.
