Junior Secondary Co-ordinator Year 7-9

All Souls St Gabriels School is seeking to employ a Junior Secondary Co-ordinator to support students in Year 7-9 both academically and pastorally.

This is a fulltime permanent position commencing in Term 2, 2018.

Applicants must be eligible for Queensland College of Teachers registration and the successful candidate will need to be registered to teach in Queensland at the time of employment.

The Junior Secondary Co-ordinator works closely with other members of the Pastoral Care Team, which includes the Senior Secondary Co-ordinator, Dean of Students, Chaplain, Nursing staff, Head of Boarding and School Psychologist. They will work closely with Tutors and Heads of Department to support the students in their care.

This role has a teaching component. Applicants will have the capacity to teach at least one of the core subjects such as Science, Mathematics, English or Humanities to students in Years 7-9.

Applicants should have:

  • excellent knowledge of the QCAA and Australian Curriculum in their subject area
  • an understanding of contemporary curriculum issues
  • an understanding of the learning and pastoral needs of a lower secondary school student
  • confidence when using ICT
  • the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • strong communication skills
  • empathy for students from regional and remote areas

All staff are expected to contribute to the wider life of the school through their participation in extra-curricular activities.

The school has a student population of over 425 (K-12), with a large residential community of over 200 students, staff and their families who live on campus. Whilst residential life does not suit everyone, rental accommodation may be available for staff on campus. Rental assistance is provided to staff over the Christmas break.

Meals are provided in the Dining Hall for staff at no cost.
