Science Teacher

All Souls St Gabriels School is seeking to employ a teacher of Secondary Science for a maternity leave contract, commencing in Term 2, 2018 for the remainder of the school year. Ongoing employment may be possible for the right candidate.

Applicants must be eligible for Queensland College of Teachers registration and the successful candidate will need to be registered to teach in Queensland at the time of employment.

The successful applicant must have the capacity to teach Science in Years 7-10.

The school offers both academic and vocational pathways in Science in modern laboratories.

The school offers a range of sciences in the Senior Years including:

  • Authority subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Authority registered subject: Agricultural Practices
  • VET courses: Certificate III in Agriculture (External Providers)

All staff are expected to contribute to the wider life of the school through their participation in extra-curricular activities.

The school has a student population of over 425 (K-12), with a large residential community of over 200 students, staff and their families who live on campus. Whilst residential life does not suit everyone, rental accommodation may be available for staff on campus. Rental assistance is provided to staff over the Christmas break.

Meals are provided in the Dining Hall for staff at no cost.

The City of Charters Towers is an educational hub for northern Australia with three Co-Educational Day and Boarding Schools, three State Primary Schools, a State High School and a School of Distance Education. The education sector is the second highest employer in the City.
