Head of Boarding
All Souls St Gabriels School is an independent Pre-prep to Year 12 co-educational day and boarding school, in the Anglican tradition, which has provided quality education for over 100 years to students from all over northern Australia and beyond.
An opportunity exists for experienced and values-driven leaders for the role of Head of Boarding.
The Role
Reporting to the Headmaster and as a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Boarding provides strategic and operational leadership of the School’s boarding program across both boys’ and girls’ residences.
This role is responsible for ensuring boarding is a safe, structured and supportive environment that promotes student wellbeing, engagement and personal growth, while maintaining high standards of care, compliance and professionalism.
The position is residential in nature and requires a visible and active presence within the boarding community, including evenings and weekends. Accommodation and utilities are included in the remuneration package.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Lead the delivery of the School’s strategic priorities as they apply to boarding
- Drive continuous improvement through data, feedback and innovation
- Ensure consistency in systems, routines and expectations across all boarding houses
Student Wellbeing and Care
- Oversee pastoral care frameworks for all boarding students
- Act as an escalation point for complex wellbeing and behavioural matters
- Work closely with the Dean of Students to align school?wide approaches
Leadership of Boarding Staff
- Lead, mentor and manage the boarding team
- Oversee recruitment, induction, rostering and performance management
- Build a cohesive, professional and accountable boarding culture
Governance, Compliance and Risk
- Ensure compliance with child protection, WHS and regulatory obligations
- Maintain accurate documentation, records and reporting
- Lead risk management practices across boarding operations
Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with families and carers
- Support enrolment processes and boarding promotion
- Represent boarding positively within the broader school community

Mandatory Requirements
- Current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Relevant leadership experience in boarding or residential education
- Demonstrated capability leading teams and managing complex operations

- High level organisational ability and sound judgement
- Confidence to lead change and continuous improvement
