Senior Secondary Co-ordinator Years 10-12

All Souls St Gabriels School is seeking to employ a Senior Secondary Co-ordinator to support students in Years 10-12, both academically and pastorally.

This position has become available due to the incumbent being appointed to the Dean of Students position.

This is a full-time permanent position commencing in 2019.

Applicants must be eligible for Queensland College of Teachers registration, and the successful candidate will need to be registered to teach in Queensland at the time of employment.

The Senior Secondary Co-ordinator works closely with other members of the Pastoral Care Team, which includes the Year 7 Co-ordinator and Year 8 & 9 Co-ordinator, Dean of Students, Chaplain, Nursing staff, Head of Boarding and School Psychologist. They will work closely with Tutors and Heads of Department to support the students in their care.

This role has a teaching component. Applicants will have the capacity to teach in subject areas that are applicable to students in Years 10-12.

Applicants should have:

  • excellent knowledge of the QCAA and Australian Curriculum in their subject area;
  • an understanding of contemporary curriculum issues;
  • an understanding of the learning and pastoral needs of a senior secondary school student;
  • confidence when using ICT;
  • the ability to work in a collaborative environment;
  • strong communication skills;
  • empathy for students from regional and remote areas.

All staff are expected to contribute to the wider life of the school through their participation in extra-curricular activities.

The school has a large residential community of over 200 students, staff and their families who live on campus. Relocation allowance is available for staff that do not reside locally, and some rental offset arrangements may be negotiated on a case by case basis.

Lunch is provided in the Dining Hall for staff at no cost.

The City of Charters Towers is an educational hub for northern Australia with three Co-Educational Day and Boarding Schools, three State Primary Schools, a State High School and a School of Distance Education. The education sector is the second highest employer in the City.
