FORMER STAFF MEMBER TAKES THE REINS AT ALL SOULS ST GABRIELS SCHOOL

All Souls St Gabriels School in Charters Towers is going back to its recent past to help guide it into its second century.

A former staff member, Shannon Lee, is to become the new Headmaster of the school from the beginning of the 2022 school year.

Mr Lee served at the school originally for four years from 2014 to 2017 as Dean of Students, responsible for the wellbeing of both boarders and day students in the growing North Queensland school.

Prior to being at All Souls St Gabriels School, he spent five years at Reigate Valley College in the UK as Head of Campus. Since leaving All Souls St Gabriels School he has broadened his leadership experience even further in the roles of Assistant Principal Students and Acting Deputy Principal at St Edmund’s College, in Ipswich.

Mr Lee is looking forward to returning north with his wife, Rebecca, who is also a former teacher at All Souls St Gabriels School, and their two children, Annabelle and George. “We are excited to be raising our family in a community like All Souls St Gabriels School and in Charters Towers. We made many wonderful friends in our time here previously and love the school. It will be like coming home,” he said.

Chairman of the All Souls St Gabriels Board of Governors, Mr Tony Holloway, in making the announcement to the school community, said that “during his time at All Souls St Gabriels School, Shannon built many strong relationships with staff, students and parents and was well regarded for his work in Pastoral Care. He comes to us with a deep knowledge of our community, our history and ethos, as well as a knowledge of rural and remote boarding and learning.”

“After four years away, Shannon returns to Charters Towers with renewed enthusiasm for serving our community and optimism about the next chapter for All Souls St Gabriels School.” Mr Holloway added.

Mr Lee, who is Queensland educated, holds a Master of Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Human Movement Studies.

Mr Lee replaces Mr Darren Fleming who has retired after serving as Headmaster for 6 years.
